With plenty of pet-sized pieces, your little vet will get the job done! View larger. |
Inside the center are all the pet-sized pieces necessary for your little vet to do the job--including a stretcher, medicine bottles, an ice pack, and doctor's notes. With these supplies and your child's imagination, there's no limit to pet-care adventures.
Playful Puppy Assistant
Your busy animal lover might need help from time to time, so the Dalmatian puppy assistant is ready to lend a paw. You can watch as the Dalmatian drops and spins in the IV bed-basket or examines the baby bunnies on the X-ray machine. The Dalmatian puppy can even assist by pulling the flashing ambulance when pets need attention fast.
Big Adventure in a Compact Package
The Rescue Tails Center swings wide open on a hidden hinge, so little veterinarians can fully access all four rooms. Now the Dalmatian assistant can pull the ambulance out front, and the patients' recovery beds can glide down the pole between rooms. When it's time to close up shop, the play set's sides fold in for easy, convenient storage.
Fun to Set Up and Personalize
With lots of nooks and crannies for all the medical supplies, the Rescue Tails Center is fun to decorate. Intricately designed and brightly colored, the Rescue Tails Center offers animal-loving children elaborate adventures with their furry friends.
The Center is made of thick plastic to withstand your child's imaginative play, but the countertop in the waiting room and the shelf behind it are made of cardboard, which will require extra care.
What's in the Box
The Rescue Tails Center, Dalmatian puppy, white foot cast, three baby bunnies, three X-ray films, bunch of carrots, two dog bones, stethoscope, fire-hydrant, ambulance/X-ray machine, six Band-Aid stickers, a post-surgical pet collar, two IVs, syringe, two medicine bottles, basket-cradle, clipboard, and two AA batteries.

An ideal companion for a young child, My Pal Scott sings, talks, and can even learn your child's name. View larger. |
Using the doll's USB port, you can personalize Scott to suit your child's preferences. View larger. |
Your child can chew on this sturdy toy's ears or toss it around. My Pal Violet is light enough for even the youngest child to hold and carry. The handy Velcro closure keeps the battery compartment, USB port, and power/volume switch securely inside the toy. The switch has three settings: normal volume, quiet volume, and master off. In the "master off" mode, Violet will not operate when the paws are pressed, so only parents will be able to turn the toy back on. My Pal Violet's speakers are also inside the toy and provide balanced sound.
Advice for parents: when My Pal Violet starts to sound distorted, parents will need a screwdriver to open the battery compartment and change the 3 "AAA" batteries.
Music, Words, and Lullabies
Each paw on My Pal Violet is embroidered with a different symbol that, when pressed, turns on a special feature. The right arm paw with a ball symbol provides snappy sentences designed to help your child learn different emotions, colors, and words. The left arm paw features music notes; when pressed you hear a 15-second, upbeat song. The songs rotate randomly and include seven vocal songs to teach skills and three fun instrumental tunes.
Younger infants will be attracted to the melodies, while older toddlers can sing along. The right foot has a stars/moon symbol for five different selections of soothing music for naps or bedtime. Press it once for two minutes of music, or press it twice for five minutes of songs. If your child wants a little extra time with My Pal Violet before falling asleep, you can press the paw three times to hear ten minutes of music.
Parents can use the songs that come pre-loaded on My Pal Violet or change the songs by connecting to the LeapFrog Connect application. It's easy to turn off My Pal Violet by simply pressing the left foot's on/off switch; push any of the other paws to resume play mode. Personalize for Your Child
A special feature of My Pal Violet is the ability to customize your child's experience. The instruction booklet will guide you through the easy process to connect My Pal Violet to a computer with the USB cord and download the LeapFrog Connect application. All it takes is 25 megabytes of free space on your computer and about 15 minutes to personalize the toy with your child's preferences. You'll be able to search for your child's name among a database of thousands. When selected, My Pal Violet will use your child's name in phrases such as "I love you" and incorporate his/her name into songs.
The application also allows you to choose your child's favorite color, animal, and food to personalize Violet's phrases to your child's favorite things. There's a resource section for printing activity sheets that your toddler will enjoy. Also, you can switch up the songs and lullabies so they're constantly fresh and different. The database is updated regularly with new songs.
The only drawback: if your child has a very uncommon name, there's a slim chance that it will not be in the LeapFrog database. However, you can choose one of many nicknames that you may call your child, such as "Munchkin" or "Peanut."
What's in the Box
One My Pal Violet toy, three "AAA" batteries, one USB cable, Quick Connect Guide and Parent Instructions booklet.

This fluffy dog features life-like movements, actions, and appearance. View larger. |
Responds to sound and motion--just like a real pet! View larger. |
Pet GoGo on the head and she will bark with enthusiasm. Pet her on the side, and she'll turn to meet you. GoGo's tail wags and she gives off a high-pitched bark. Her head tilts, raises and lowers, and her body wiggles.
Her actions are startlingly life-like, so much so that while our testers were taking a break from playing with her, GoGo stood before the lunch counter, barking and panting as if she wanted a treat like any real dog would. She even sheds, so beware!
Remote-Controlled Dog Wants to Go, Go, Go!
GoGo is aptly named. With the big-buttoned remote control that doubles as a leash and fits comfortably in a young child's hand, you can turn on the pup and she's raring to go. Set her to "try" mode, and GoGo will respond to sound or motion--she'll also bark, but she won't move. Set GoGo to "on" mode, and she practically tugs at her leash to go for a walk.
The leash controls GoGo's movements. Press the forward arrow, and she walks at a kid's pace; press the left and right arrow buttons, and she negotiates corners. Once GoGo starts moving, she doesn't want to come back. Don't worry, though--her motor is not too strong, so kids can easily rein her in when it's time to go home.
Even while in the "on" mode, GoGo remains both sound and motion activated, so any activity on your walk will make her respond like a real pet. Be careful--if you cough or sneeze in GoGo's presence, she could take off on her own!
Built to Walk on Smooth, Dry Surfaces
GoGo is designed with four rubber wheels--one beneath each paw--that are hidden by fur. Each of the front wheels rotates on a cam lobe, and GoGo's knees are jointed, so her front legs appear to bend as if she's extending her forepaws to walk.
GoGo responded well, walking without any stumbles or glitches, when our testers walked her on hard floors and commercial carpets. The box's photos show GoGo parading down an outdoor sidewalk. As long as the terrain is smooth and dry, we think she'll be fine. But make sure you gently clean GoGo off with a slightly damp cloth or brush to keep her mechanisms in working order.
This Pup Loves to Be Pampered
Like any good-natured dog, GoGo wants to be loved. She'll whine if she's being lifted awkwardly or pulled harshly by her leash, and she may even stop moving. In fact, in our repeated tests, it sounded as if GoGo let out a brief growl whenever we weren't as gentle as we should have been.
Also, if you want peace and quiet around the house, make sure you turn GoGo off when it's time for her to nap. Otherwise, like a real puppy, she pants and barks at surprising times, and that can wear down her batteries.
